Normoxic Trimix Rebreather Diver

 

INTRODUCTION

This rebreather Trimix program is designed to extend your knowledge and develop the skills for decompression procedures required in the use of mixed (Oxygen, Helium & Nitrogen) gases for Sport Diving to a maximum depth of 60m / 200ft.

OBJECTIVE

This program qualifies you to a depth of 60 m / 200 ft and complete dives with mandatory decompression stop requirements without limit.
This speciality is unit specific and may only be applied to a RAID registered rebreather which meets the requirements and any diver who meets the prerequisites.

THE PROGRAM EMPLOYS THE FOLLOWING GASSES

Normoxic Diluent gas and Stage cylinders Open Circuit oxygen enriched gas (EANx / Nitrox) mixes from 18% to a maximum of 100% fraction of oxygen.

PREREQUISITES

·       Minimum age of 18 years at the start of training.

·       RAID Decompression Diver or Limited Trimix Diver or equivalent.

·       Certified as Master Rescue Diver.·     

  Certified as RAID First Aid and Oxygen Provider or equivalent.

·       Minimum of 50 hours using a CCR with at least 25 dives and 25 hours on the specific unit to be used on this course, A minimum of 20 dives deeper than 30 meters / 100 feet and at least 10 dives that required staged decompression.

·       Submit a dive medical passed by a certified diving physician.

·       Divers already certified as rebreather divers with at least 25 hours logged in the 12 months prior to training, may participate in the CCR (Cross Over) program, as they are already proficient in rebreather diving and only need specific knowledge, skills and time on the CCR.

PRACTICAL COURSE CONTENT

There must be at least 6 in-water sessions with a minimum in-water time of 360 minutes.

Confined Water

A minimum of one confined water dive.

Open Water

A minimum of 5 open water dives with at least 300 minutes of underwater training.

There can be no more than three in-water sessions per day and no more than two open water dives per day if any of those open water dives require mandatory decompression stops.

IN WATER TRAINING FOR STUDENTS ALREADY CERTIFIED AS DECO 60 CCR DIVERS ON OTHER UNITS

     Confined water:                      Adequate time to show competency of all skills.

     Open water:                             2 hours minimum

     Total in water time:               3 hours minimum

     Dives:                                          4 minimum

RAID On-line e-learning academic presentations, quizzes, exam and practical skills as detailed.
Stamina and Waterman ship skills.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

For this course you will be required to have use of the following:
1 x rebreather with the following requirements but not limited to:
RAID Registered Rebreather

Manual Oxygen addition valve
Manual Diluent addition valve
PpO2 Display
ADV with on/off switch (optional)
Ability to ‘plugin' to the rebreather loop off-board gas
Manufacturer's depth specifications/limitations is 60m/197ft or below this depth

3 minimum side sling cylinders (minimum size 5 lt/40cu ft)
3 x first stage
3 x second stage with Octo hose
3 x SPG with short HP hose
3 x BCD/inflator LP hose
1 x Drysuit inflator hose if applicable interchangeable with BCD connection
1 x mixed gas rebreather dive computer
1 x dive timer or mixed gas dive computer
1 x slate
2 x SMBs and reels
1 x knife
2 x dive masks
1 x torch/light/underwater lamp
1 x exposure suit as required
1 x second buoyancy device with interchangeable inflator system with primary BCD & LP hose.

CERTIFICATION

All confined and open water skills have been acknowledged and accepted on-line through the
RAID web site by both yourself and your instructor.
The RAID Dive Centre has confirmed certification on-line through the RAID web site.
