Diving is a sport the family can all do together, with the options of a calm, slow and peaceful dive or an adrenaline, intense exploration.

To earn your Try Dive participation e-card, you need to read the manual for and complete the quiz. Once you have passed the quiz, you can proceed to the exam. It is important to select and contact a RAID Dive Centre and arrange for your practical in-water training. They will arrange your class and in-water sessions and help you with equipment advice or purchases.

The quiz and exam are “open book”. This means you are required to read the manual and then if needed, research the manual to find the correct answers. The Scuba Diver program provides you with basic knowledge of scuba diving. Ages 12 years old and above may purchase this course. The maximum depth of 12m or 39ft and certifies you to dive with the accompaniment of a Dive Professional. Introduction

The RAID Scuba Diver program was designed to accommodate those who are short on time and can't complete the full Open Water 20 course. The Scuba Diver program is derived from the RAID Open Water 20 course and provides you with basic knowledge and the full experience of scuba diving and the underwater World.

Upon completion of the RAID Scuba Diver program you will receive a certification card indicating your completion of the course. This will allow you to dive to a maximum depth of 12 metres/40ft with a dive professional across many parts of the world. The Scuba Diver certification is also a recognition of learning and allows you to fast track your RAID Open Water 20 course at a later date by not having to repeat any skills that overlap with the two programs.

Open Water 20

What is the Explorer 30 course all about?

The RAID Explorer 30 course is an exciting, fun programme designed to increase your skills and understanding of the important core areas of diving. This course is largely practical so you have more time to enjoy your journey and practice the skills your Instructor will teach you.

The course will take you on 5 different dives so you expand on the knowledge and skills learned during your Open Water course. The theory section is a general overview of each core session and some important information to take away regarding each dive.

You will do a small quiz for this section and final exam online or in your dive centre. These will cover the main topics and any safety aspects you need to know. Your instructor will review this information before your dives so no formal classroom time is required.

Master Rescue Diver

Rescue divers learn not only how to look after themselves in the water, but how to be observant of those divers around them so that small issues can be noticed and dealt with. This could be simple anxiety or equipment problems in many cases and the rescue diver has the skills and knowledge to observe and help.

INTRODUCTION

Rescue invokes the epic dramas as only television and films can sensationalize as the average human has a fascination with tragedy of others. Is it for the fame and/or the sympathy received for a brief period? Whatever the reason, there is another saying "not on my watch!"

An airline pilot, whilst interviewed on television, was asked how many successful flights he has had to which he replied you mean landings don't you?

With the scuba diver, anyone can put on SCUBA and descend underwater, that is generally not the quandary. The ability to safely stay underwater and more importantly, to return to the surface, therein lies the predicament.

The next question which needs to be asked is if the action is worth the risk? Considering today's action risk statistics, relating to many, sometimes inconsequential activities, for which we accept without thought everyday, the answer is a resolute - yes.

Even though the statistics show diving as a low risk, it is still not a risk to take for granted, and anybody who thinks otherwise should not be diving. Like the airline pilot, how many safe ascents have you had?

What is a good rescue?

One that is not required, because of all the preparation and forethought that has been taken into account, the necessity is not needed. Unfortunately, even with thorough preparation accidents still happen. Familiarity breeds contempt and therein lies the fault; the laxity of divers.

Instructor Development Program

IDP or Instructor Development Program is for a certified Divemaster or Cross Over Instructor. The IDP fully prepares you to become a RAID Instructor. Included in this purchase are all the materials needed to complete the IDP and courses for use following Instructor certification. Upon successful completion of the IDP, you may enrol on the Instructor Open Circuit (I.E. - Instructor Examination) which is now included in the IDP Pack.

RAID INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

A RAID Instructor is a leader and educator, developing and growing with the RAID diver education system in a dynamic environment. Always learning and able to adabt to changes, providing leadership and understanding, with commitment to professionalism.

The Instructor Development Program builds and extends the skills learnt and mastered from supervisory, problem management and prevention level (Divemaster) to an educator with the responsibilities of developing not only academic understanding but motor skills in a very unforgiving environment (underwater) where mistakes are not easily tolerated.

This program also reviews handling customer services, business and operation management and dive leadership.

After you finish your IDP there will be an Instructor Examination. The IE will certify you as a RAID Instructor Open Circuit. When you have successfully completed your IDP you should purchase the RAID Instructor Open Circuit course and complete the IE.

The IDP has an open book exam and you need to research the manuals to find out the correct answers yourself! Diving in General, Confined Water Training and Open Water Training all have unique manuals here. All the other modules get their theory from the Divemaster course.

It is important to note that your questions can come from any manual from the Open Water 20 course right up to the Divemaster course. Nitrox and Deep 40 questions are also included.
