Rebreather Decompression Diver

 

INTRODUCTION

The Decompression Rebreather Diver / Limited Trimix course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to safely and efficiently conduct rebreather dives to a maximum depth of 40m/130ft using air or nitrox as a breathing gas or to 45m/145ft using trimix as a breathing gas. The maximum decompression obligation may not exceed 10 minutes. This course is unit specific.

 

Limitations:

      This program has a maximum 10 minutes of scheduled decompression.

      The maximum planned loop PO2 (setpoint) shall be not exceed 1.3 bar.

      The maximum loop PO2 shall not exceed 1.4 bar, except at depths of 6 m or less, and only for a maximum of two minutes.

      The inspired PO2 of the open circuit bail out gas shall not exceed 1.6 bar.

      When participating in the Decompression course, the diluent supply gas must contain a minimum of 21% oxygen.

      When participating in the Limited Trimix course, the diluent supply gas must contain a minimum of 20% oxygen and the helium content must not exceed 35%.

      The maximum END/EAD of the diluent must not exceed 30 meters / 100 feet.

      Use Oxygen (100%) for life support.

Diluent on-board gas must not have a PO2 higher than 1.1 bar at the maximum depth.

STUDENT PREREQUISITES

For open circuit divers with no prior CCR certification:

·       Be a minimum of 18 years old

·       Be certified as a RAID Deco 40 diver or equivalent.

·       Have logged 30 open water dives with at least 25 hours underwater and have logged at least 5 dives to a minimum of 30m/100ft.

·       Complete the registration process, including all mandatory paperwork.

 

 If already certified as a RAID Sport Rebreather diver or equivalent:

·       Be a minimum of 18 years old

·       Have logged 20 open water dives with at least 20 hours underwater using a rebreather

·       Complete the registration process, including all mandatory paperwork.

·       Complete the medical questionnaire and submit a valid certificate signed by a licensed medical practitioner if required.

PRACTICAL COURSE CONTENT

On-line e-learning academic presentations, quizzes, exam and practical skills as detailed.
Stamina and Watermanship skills.
Confined Water Training. Minimum 1 hour.
Open Water Training. Minimum 6 hours.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

For this course students will be required to have use of the following:

1 x RAID Registered Rebreather:
ADV with optional on/off flow stop
BOV / DSV (Bailout valve / Diver surface valve) optional
Manufacturer's depth specifications/limitations are below the depth limit of this course

1 x single side sling cylinder
1 x first stage
1 x second stage with Octo hose
1 x SPG with short HP hose
1 x Drysuit inflator hose if applicable interchangeable with BCD connection
1 x mixed gas rebreather/open circuit dive computer
1 x dive timer or enriched air computer
1 x slate
2 x SMBs and reels
1 x knife
2 x dive masks
1 x torch/light/underwater lamp
1 x BCD/harness and wing with adequate lift capacity
1 x exposure suit as required - A Dry suit shall have interchangeable inflator system with BCD LP hose

CERTIFICATION

All confined and open water skills have been acknowledged and accepted on-line through the

RAID web site by both yourself and your instructor.
The RAID Dive Centre has confirmed certification on-line through the RAID web site.

 Upgrading to Limited Trimix

If you have previously completed the RAID Decompression Diver course and wish to upgrade to the 45m Limited Trimix level you need to attend and complete with competence:

·       1 classroom session with your instructor.

·       1 confined session with your instructor covering they key skills of this course.

·       2 open water dives (dives 7 and 8).
